Greg Newton

Personal History: Coach Greg has had an illustrious playing career competing at the highest level of men’s basketball. Greg played high school basketball at A.N Myer in Niagara Falls before joining Coach Krzyzewski’s Duke Blue Devils team to play NCAA Div 1 between 1993 and 1997. From 1990 through 2003 Greg was a member of Canada’s National basketball team and had the privilege of representing Canada along with Steve Nash at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Under Coach Jay Triano the team had a strong 7th place finish. Following Greg’s college career he played professional basketball in Europe for nearly 10 years returning to Canada in 2006.

Coaching History: Coach Newton has coached for numerous years at the Duke University Summer Basketball Camps. He and his wife have also been seen regularly at local gyms, both serving as Hamilton Board approved Basketball Officials since 2006.

Coaching Certification: Currently pursuing NCCP Level 2 certification.

Coach Newton’s Words of Wisdom: “If you don’t give 100% when you are able to, then what you are doing isn’t worth doing at all.”
